Despite evidence to the contrary, I have indeed been doing some writing lately. Bugger me, dialogue is hard. Also, I'm not familiar with writing a piece as long as this, so I'm trying to avoid putting a lot of the description or character detail up front; it can come out as the story unfolds, after all.
